Resources for Immigrants and Migrants
By Green Valley-Sahuarita Samaritans Rev. January 2021
Millions of U.S. tax-paying immigrant workers are ineligible for the stimulus money because they don't have social security numbers or their spouse or household members don't have. Some of these people have lost their jobs and don’t qualify for unemployment or a stimulus check. They need food, healthcare, childcare, loans, emergency assistance and a reliable source of emergency information.
In the U.S. some asylum seekers are in cramped quarters in ICE immigration detention centers, making them highly susceptible to COVID-19 infection. Non-profits with legal volunteers need money to bond them out and get them to their sponsors.
Other asylum seekers are waiting in Mexico for their court date -- having been denied the legal right to ask for asylum and enter the country. They are staying in Mexican shelters, in overcrowded apartments or are homeless.
If you are able, please consider donating to any of these organizations. It would be greatly appreciated. Feel free to share these suggestions with others.
