MEETING NUGGET FROM FEBRUARY 26, 2018
Members, who had gone to a Symposium on Death in the Desert, reported the Pima County Medical Examiner’s Office has collected bone samples from all recovered human remains (RHR) of migrants since 2001. They use a private laboratory for DNA testing to encourage donations of samples for potential matching. We salute the PCME.
MEETING NUGGET FROM MARCH 12, 2018
There were multiple sightings of migrants reported south and southwest of Green Valley near the Freeport tailings dam. Two fellows had been lost for eleven days. Another went into a yard with ferocious looking dogs (who proved not to be so fierce). When the woman asked him to move on, he began to cry and shake. She gave him humanitarian aid and sent him on his way.
MEETING NUGGET FROM APRIL 9, 2018
A new Samaritan was in a Tucson restaurant talking about her work with the GVS Samaritans. Another customer overheard and came over. He was tall with a cowboy hat. The table went silent. The man said he supported what she said and what she did and asked her to accept $40 to help the cause.
